Welcome to MosaïKids!

MosaïKids is designed as a series of mini-retreats that nurture and develop the innate spirituality children already possess. It is not a traditional Sunday school or catechism class in the sense that it’s not based on doctrine, nor is it evangelistic (the goal is not to make everyone believe exactly the same thing). It is also a space that fosters deep relationships across diversity—one of the key teachings of Christ and one of the essential ingredients for making the world a better place.

The program is rooted in values especially highlighted in the Christian tradition, such as compassion, justice, wonder, and cooperation. At the same time, we recognize that many other traditions and worldviews share these same aspirations.
We hope that children—even the youngest among them—can experience spirituality not as a moralistic or individualistic practice, but as a resource to be more present in the world, to experience the divine in a way that is both authentic and joyful, and to honor the interconnectedness of all people, places, and things. This is why we include stories not only from Christian sources, but also from folktales and parables from various traditions.

Structure

Each session lasts an hour and a half and includes the following elements:

  • An opening ritual to share joys and concerns
  • A story, parable, or another wisdom tale followed by open group reflection
  • A choice of creative activities based on the process rather than the final product

A suggested follow-up activity at home, involving other generations

Our approach focuses on:

  • Attention to the unique character of each child
  • Personalized and detailed encouragement (not generic or evaluative, e.g. “I love the colorful wavy shapes you created!” instead of “Very good!”)
  • Nurturing “right relationships” among participants (forgiving, saying “no” when necessary and appropriate, understanding how we need one another, respecting our own boundaries and those of others, etc.)
  • Collective exploration rooted in the experience of what is sacred for each of us

Collective exploration of texts selected based on the values and mission of our communityauté
