Who Are WE?

We are a community that has been present in Riponne for over 150 years. Inspired to follow a new direction, we have rethought our way of being a church. Convinced that we are called to engage where we are, we promote activities that foster unity in diversity, especially those in which we co-create together. We are inspired by our Methodist traditions of grace for all and "social holiness"—which means both social justice and right relationships.

WHY "VILLAGE"?

Because it takes a village to raise a child. Because in a village, each person is important and brings something unique and essential to the community. A village needs a diversity of skills and interests, as well as goodwill and openness to dialogue. Our texts and traditions remind us that we are all interconnected (1 Corinthians 12:12-27). We believe that Christ calls everyone to recognize the sacred value of all human beings, to live in solidarity, and to help each other realize the God-given potential to transform the world.

WHY "MOSAIC"?

Because we all have unique shapes, colors, and textures that, when arranged together, create a living work of art. We rejoice in the diversity given to us by God and believe it should be celebrated accordingly. The image also refers to the artistic life of the city—from the Roman mosaic visible in Vidy to more recent mosaics, like those in Chauderon and the Parc de la Brouette.
